Super Bowl III|Super Bowl V
January 11, 1970
The Chiefs, in their second Super Bowl appearance, evened the score in the AFL/NFL Super Bowl rivalry with a big win over the Vikings (who began their hapless Super Bowl efforts with this contest, poor things).
MVP quarterback (the 4th consecutive quarterback to be named the game's MVP) Len Dawson had a stellar game, and the Chiefs defense held the Vikings to just one touchdown to contribute to the biggest win yet by a Super Bowl team.
Attendance for the game was a new record of 80,562. A new gate receipt record was also set this game, with gross sales equaling $3,817,872.69. Hank Stram coached the Chiefs, while Bud Grant suffered his first Super Bowl loss as coach of the Vikings.
