Named in
honor of
Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal, the Center is an
international watchdog of
hate groups based out of
Los Angeles. Their
facility also runs the Museum of Tolerance, a multi-media history exhibit on the
Holocaust and the events surrounding it.
When I went, the most interesting exhibit was not anything related to the holocoust (which they must have warehouses full of) but a computer screen map of the United States with a touch pad that allowed you to click on any area and search for recent news of hate crimes, sorted by organization or nature.
Although the Center does do good work, it sometimes runs afoul of civil rights groups, because it appears to take the stance that government censorship is superior to a free speech that allows the propagation of racism.
They are on the web at www.wiesenthal.com.
